Classes at Angel English
Why study English?
According to many research studies learning another language helps keep the brain functioning well preventing the onset of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Although it is not the most spoken language, English is the most used language for communication internationally.
Understanding English gives you access to a wealth of knowledge. Did you know 28% of all the books published in the world and 30% of internet sites are in English?
As you begin to express yourself in English you will also be learning a lot about your own language and culture and how some things do or don’t translate.
It can also be very freeing to speak in another language as you move beyond the constraints of your own language.
The written language is actually rather easy compared to many languages as it has only 26 letters.
Classes at AE
We really want you to be comfortable and relaxed in the class. We’ve created a homey feeling with the décor and we serve coffee or tea – and sometimes home-baked treats; ) during the class.
Learning a language
Roland speaks 3 languages as does Tamara – actually she is now working on her 4th – Japanese.
Additionally, if you are interested in German or Portuguese we offer classes in those languages in addition to English.
I’m sorry to say it but I’m afraid 1 hour 1 time a week is just not enough time to make much progress at anything you want to learn. So Angela has a challenge for you – I double dog dare you to take this pledge as you embark on your English speaking journey.
I promise to
- laugh about and learn from the mistakes I make in English.
- speak in English with the other members in my class and other students from Angel English inside the class and out.
- practice using English outside of class on things I like such as movies, songs, reading.
- review the material we studied in the lesson for just a few minutes 2 times during the week between classes
- use English any chance I get – and if I don`t have any chances to speak with someone I can always speak to myself. : )
