I studied English literature at Wilfrid Laurier University and then went on to teacher`s college at Queen`s. After graduating I taught in a special education classroom and as a supply teacher before going to teach in Niigata, Japan, and then for a year at an overseas high school in Hong Kong. After some traveling, I came back to Japan – Gosen this time – and have been here ever since. I taught at Nagaoka Gidai University, Nursing College and Niigata Joho University for many years but last few years I have been dividing my time between my 2 homes and spending several months a year back in Canada as my parents get older.
I love to swim and play tennis in summer and snowboard in winter. I also love to travel, and over the years I have hosted and guided many students who have come to visit at my parent’s home in Canada.
Hi, I'm Roland. I was born in Germany but have lived in several English speaking countries before I came to Japan in 2008. That’s when I started teaching at ANGEL ENGLISH in Gosen. I always try to bring some of my own experience into the classroom and share with my students.
In my free time, I like to go to the beach or to explore some new places. I also sometimes do some DJ-ing around Niigata-city, so come out and catch me if you can…
